Because I don't usually update here anymore [or anywhere else for that matter], shall just post this up for fun...
Perfection
Looking up the stars,
We dream big,
Always wanting to be the best,
Achieving what others cannot,
Looking for perfection,
The impossible; to be the best.
White lies,
We tell all the time,
Behind the mask, we hide,
Afraid to reveal the truth,
Hypocrites; admittedly or not.
Smiles all around,
Tears elsewhere,
Hiding away through layers of skin,
Just like an onion,
True emotions buried deep inside.
Striving for success,
We all want it,
Pretending to be happy,
Happy for the success of others,
But secretly hating them for it.
Looks don’t matter,
Or so we normally say,
Yet observation suggests otherwise,
People’s perceptions matter,
Like it or not.
Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder,
The ladies want it,
The men look for it,
Still nobody admits,
That beauty is what matters.
Intelligence,
We wish for it,
Longing for something we can’t have,
Yet not doing anything,
What good is it then?
Fame, and fortune,
Pretence and lies,
Beauty over brains,
Selfishness,
All for perfection, the impossible.
